David Wilson, Showroom Manager & Senior Designer
Experience
David has been a kitchen designer for over eight years and joined Elements Kitchens in 2019. Since joining Elements, David has continually produced exceptional designs for his customers and quickly became the Showroom Manager. His education, including Three Dimensional Design at the University of Hertfordshire, gave him the skills to continually push the boundaries of what could be designed and manufactured for kitchens. Working alongside the Elements Workshop, David has produced bespoke and unique products which can't be replicated with off-the-shelf materials.
What ignited your passion for kitchen design?
David has always been interested in cooking, but not always had the best kitchen. This has made him very aware of how people move in this space and the importance of a well thought out kitchen. It was for this reason that he wanted to become a kitchen designer: he wanted to use his design skills to help others bring their kitchen dreams to life.
What tips do you have for anyone in the market for a new kitchen?
A kitchen is more than just a place to cook; it's an integral part of the home, where memories are made. Take your time, consider your lifestyle, and work with an experienced designer to create a kitchen that reflects your unique style and aspirations. I'd also advise you to go with a KBSA approved retailer so your deposit is insured. You can read more on the benefits of this scheme here.
David's Design Philosophy
David’s approach to kitchen design centres on simplicity. His main priority is to create spaces that not only resonate with the lifestyles and tastes of his customers, but also bring the family together.
This customer-oriented approach is fuelled by his passion for engaging with others. He always starts with the customer first: what do they want and how can he meet and exceed their expectations. As David, says: ‘If it’s important to the customer, it’s important to me’.
This can lead to challenging designs, although David enjoys pushing the boundaries, developing his skills and exploring what is possible. ‘It can create more work, but I enjoy finding out what is possible and exploring new solutions. It’s very satisfying to take a vision and make it a reality.’
One of the ways in which David continues his professional development and keeps on top of the latest trends and designs is to attend events, including Clerkenwell Design Week. "These events are so inspiring; they really help you to take 'the art of the possible' to a whole other level."
Every project provides new and interesting challenges, but the projects closest to David's heart are those involving country homes. ‘I think these buildings are full of character, and they always have unique and interesting architectural features that I like to try and incorporate into my designs.’

Curved Hand-Painted Shaker Kitchen
The owners of this Southampton home were looking to create a sociable centrepiece to a large open plan entertaining space. They also required a lot of storage without lots of ‘cupboards ruining the design’.
Speaking about his inspiration for the design, David said:
'after listening to the customers, I decided to go with a clean, minimal look centring around hidden storage.'
The customers were delighted with the outcome:
'David's design for our kitchen is simply superb, it’s changed our way of living.'
