Jansen Ma, Sales Designer and CAD Specialist

Experience

Jansen has been in the kitchen industry for nearly 10 years. He initially started as a customer advisor, before moving into CAD design. Since joining the Elements team as a CAD specialist in 2023, Jansen has gone from strength to strength and is now moving from CAD design into sales.

His previous studies in aeronautical engineering at the University of Bristol, helped him to hone his attention to detail and love of aesthetics. These skills have been invaluable in helping him to excel in his kitchen design career, as he's able to beautifully balance the technical side of kitchens with the aesthetic finish.

What ignited your passion for kitchen design?

Jansen believes that kitchens are the most important room in a home. They are not only used by family members on a daily basis to prepare meals, but are increasingly required to have a multi-functional purpose. For example, a place to entertain, an office, etc. Therefore, the challenges posed by kitchen design and the satisfaction that one can get from helping people to create their dream kitchens make kitchen design a very rewarding career choice.

What tips do you have for anyone in the market for a new kitchen?

Carefully consider how  you'd like to use the space. Remember that kitchens are now multi-functional spaces, so this doesn't just mean how you move around the kitchen to prepare meals. Instead, consider if/how you'd like to maximise the use of your kitchen for other purposes.

Jansen's Design Philosophy

Jansen has been involved in hundreds of kitchen projects over the years. He has led many of them and worked collaboratively on some with other senior designers, who have sought out his expertise. It is his willingness to collaborate with others and take on a wide variety of challenges that has made him a formidable designer, as he's been exposed to innovative ideas and approaches that subsequently end up in his own designs.

Jansen loves to learn, and always keeps up-to-date with the latest trends on social media for the kitchen industry, as well as KBB and KBSA websites which is of great help to his customers. He also thinks that there is something to learn from every kitchen project, which all have their own charm: "Traditional kitchens are beautifully timeless and full of character. They give you an opportunity to tease out the details like features posts and chimney breasts. However, in a modern kitchen design, you have more opportunity to explore different textures, styles, and gadgets that don't work in a traditional setting."

Customer testimonial

"We have been very impressed with the process of designing our new kitchen with Elements. The showroom is beautiful and has enough variety and design features in the display to showcase the range of possibilities provided by Elements. Jansen, as our designer, has been great at establishing our needs and priorities for our new space and identifying solutions for the more tricky aspects of our design. Working with Jansen has been a really positive experience and he has produced a practical but also beautiful design while bearing in mind our budget."

The Royal Windsor Fun Ride is held in Windsor Great Park and covers approximately 8 miles with optional horse jumps. In 2023, Elements Kitchens were invited to build a kitchen-themed jump for the event, and we were delighted to accept the invitation.
